Sunshine and great fishing in Alaska!!

The Bristol Bay weather finally showed a little mercy the last 2 days with beautiful mostly cloudless skies.  Rivers are dropping back into shape after what can only be described as a pounding of miserable weather for weeks on end.  We are now 9 weeks into our season here at Mission Lodge and this is the first we have not had to deal with weather and fog delaying morning flights, what a relief.  Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char and Dolly Varden are in full "pigout" mode feasting behind spawning Sockeye Salmon in just about every stream on our flyout list, making for some epic days of nymphing beads.  Silver (coho) Salmon are pouring into the rivers as well providing all day action on the heavier fly rods and filling fish boxes.  I am looking forward to returning home to Michigan and the Muskegon, Pere Marquette and Manistee Rivers on September 12.  Openings are slim for Fall Kings so book them while you can, I have a fair number of prime Steelhead dates available in November so give me a call or drop an e-mail and I look forward to seeing you on the river.

Releasing a gorgeously colored Dolly.
Monster Dolly Varden from a very remote creek.
Clear sunny days have been very rare this summer!
Great view from the plane this morning.
