Steelhead numbers are improving daily and there is rain in the forecast!! Sunday was cut short with the starter going out in my boat but we had enough time to get into some fish and make a fisherman out of a newbie. Mari caught her first ever Steelhead and will surely be back for more. The boat is fixed and I promise to start taking more pictures and updating here more often.

Fall Fishing in Michigan
It's been way too long since my last update here so I am going to try to cover the last month or so since coming home from Alaska. Salmon fishing has been ok, with a decent amount of fish holding in pools it was nowhere near as good as it should be. Water temp played a big role in the tough bite as for the most part never dipped below 60 degrees before the fish decided to just hit gravel to spawn. Now it's time to let those fish do their thing and target Steelhead. Steelhead numbers are decent and improving, a shot of cold and rain to bring the water level up and temp down should kick things into high gear. As of right now egg imitations behind spawning salmon are the best bet to find steelhead as these fish are taking advantage of the easy food source. We should have another good fall steelhead fishery with great fishing thru December just like last year with the slowly cooling water temps. I have just a few late November openings and a decent amount of December openings for anyone looking to get on the river and catch some Steelhead. Here are just a few pictures of what we've been catching lately, salmon and steelhead.
