Muskegon River Winter Steelhead

Steelhead fishing was pretty good today despite dealing with a fair amount of shelf ice.  There are good numbers of Steelhead in the river so fishing should be good throughout the Winter as long as ice doesn't keep us from fishing.   Winter Steelhead rates are $200 for 5 hrs. and $300 for 8 hrs. Short notice bookings are the way to go with warm ups in the weather.  Wayne and Dale are pictured with a few fish from today.

12/13/2013  Wayne with a chrome hen that fought very well.

12/13/2013  We had to break shelf ice out of the boat ramp to
launch today but it was worth it.

Winter Fishing

Well if Winter wasn't here yet it showed up today.  Water temp was 32 degrees and the snow hitting the river turned to slush and eventually ice.  Add 15 to 20 mph wind and you have a fun day of Steelhead fishing.  Mark, Craig and Johnny toughed out the nasty weather and put a good number of fish in the net, warm up tonight boys cause we are going to do it again tomorrow.

Muskegon River Steelhead

Not much new to report, water temp has dropped to the mid 30's and boat traffic is very light.  Fishing was great today, we found lots of good sized fish willing to play.  Here is Brad and Brian with a couple of the big Steelhead they caught today.

12/7/2013  It is cold outside but these fish fought like it was early November.

December Steelhead

Steelhead fishing remains good.  Boat traffic is back to where we like it with some days having the river to yourself.  Water temp is in the high 30's, but is soon to drop with the cold weather on the way.  Today was quite windy but productive, here are a few pictures from yesterday and today.

12/5/2013  Jeff's first ever Steelhead will be tough for him to top.

12/5/2013   Gary with a nice buck from a windy day.

12/4/2013  Fritz with a good one from yesterday.

12/4/2013  Steelhead fishing has been good so far in December.

Muskegon River Steelhead

Steelhead fishing is still good throughout the Muskegon River system.  The weather forecast looks like Winter is coming which will cool the water off but for now it's in the high 30's.  With the amount of fish in the river right now we should have a great Winter fishery.  It was nice to have two days off to spend time with my wife, she wanted to fish for a couple hours today and below are a couple of the fish we caught.

12/3/2013  Natalie with a nice buck she caught float fishing.

12/3/2013  A nice Brown Trout for Natalie.

12/3/2013  Fishing was pretty good today.

12/3/2013  Jack rode along today and put this nice chrome hen in the net while Natalie took a break from catching them.

December Steelhead

Not much has changed as far as fishing goes, it's still good.  Water temp is in the upper 30's and level is down around 2,000 cfs. and clear.  Boat traffic has been quite a bit heavier over the last few days as it normally is the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I have openings after the 13th of December for anyone looking to get out after some Winter Steelhead.  Below are a few of the fish we have boated recently.

12/1/2013  Leland with a buck that proved to be a handful on the way to the net.

12/1/2013  John with a nice colored up buck.

11/30/13  Sam with a colorful Steelhead.

11/30/2013  Steve with one of his fish from Saturday.

11/29/2013  Christian with a nice buck on a cold day.
